Meet The Pastor
REV. GARY A. THOMAS
Hi, I’m Gary; let me tell you a little about my background. I am the middle child of native Floridians, a United Methodist Minister and a school teacher. I grew up in the church and have been active at every level of the church. I’ve taken part in local church, district, and conference, national and even international events. I’ve been active in big churches, small churches, and those in between. I’ve felt a calling to ministry since my youth and it has taken me all over the country, getting involved in many different kinds of ministry. I feel that all those experiences have prepared me for this time, and this place, and I’m so happy to be here. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you as we join together in this journey of faith.
WHO WE ARE
St. Mark’s is a campus of Anona United Methodist Church, a Multisite Church, that seeks to make disciples for the transformation of the world. We extend this local ministry into the St. Petersburg area and provide a campus with a small church atmosphere, smaller, more intimate worship services, classes, and activities.
We are a family that is warm, caring and welcoming.
We share the unconditional love of God.
We proclaim discipleship to Christ.
We celebrate the power of the Holy Spirit
We serve our church, our community and our world.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
We are mainly older adults seeking to revitalize a campus that reaches beyond ourselves to be the hands and feet of Christ to those in our neighborhood. We emphasize meaningful, traditional worship, with Biblically based sermons and familiar hymns. We support an active Missional program that reaches into our schools and neighborhood.
We seek to nurture the human spirit, mind and body, and invite others to join us, no matter where you might be in your Christian journey. As we join together in following Christ we also encourage each other to worship, grow, and serve others not just at church, but in the midst of our daily living.
